Meet Dr. Wiggins

Dr. Raymond Wiggins is a sixth generation Texan. He earned a Bachelors of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University at age 19. He then worked in the business community for 4 years before deciding to attend dental school. Dr. Wiggins earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from Texas A & M University Baylor College of Dentistry (now Texas A & M School of Dentistry). Dr. Wiggins was awarded membership in the Baylor Odontological Honor Society and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national honor society.

Following dental school, Dr. Wiggins completed a six year M.D.-integrated oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at UT-Houston. During this time he completed 36+ months of oral and maxillofacial surgery rotations, earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from UT-Houston Medical School (now McGovern Medical School), and completed a general surgery internship.

Dr. Wiggins is licensed by the State of Texas to practice both medicine and dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Fellow of The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of The Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The Houston Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The Edward C. Hinds Academy, The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, The American Dental Association, The Texas Dental Association, and The Greater Houston Dental Society.

Dr. Wiggins is honored to have been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Dental Review Committee of the State of Texas. He is currently serving a six year term. Dr. Wiggins recently completed his term as a board member of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also honored to serve on the boards of nonprofit organizations including his church and The Edward C. Hinds Academy Foundation.

He has been involved in research in areas ranging from developing an outpatient anesthesia risk scale to a study developing resorbable distraction devices to studying the effects of amino acid imbalanced diets and various nerve transections on weight and appetite. He is currently doing research regarding cannabis. His work has been published in journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Journal of Physiology.

Dr. Wiggins has privileges at Houston Methodist West Hospital and Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital.

Dr. Wiggins is happily married. He loves the outdoors, many types of sports, flying, and spending quality time with his family. Dr. Wiggins believes that his relationship with God is the most important thing in his life. He works with and loves people of all faiths and those who profess no faith.

Dr. Wiggins loves serving others. He loves oral and maxillofacial surgery, because he is able to serve people in ways he would not otherwise be able to. He enthusiastically supports Tupelo Children’s Mansion and Ima’s Home

Tupelo Children’s Mansion offers both temporary and long-term care, in a residential group setting, to children in need of a safe and loving environment. The children live in residential halls that house between 7 and 12 children and are supervised and cared for by qualified houseparents.
